As an essential element of any safe and pain free surgical intervention anaesthesiology is a major contributor to positive health outcomes. The WFSA works to make safe anaesthesia universally accessible and to improve patient care around the world.

About the SSA
The Singapore Society of Anaesthesiologists (SSA) is a professional medical society which is open to all registered medical practitioners engaged in the practice of anaesthesia. SSA welcome all anaesthesia specialists, trainees, residents, fellows, and medical officers to join as members. Other medical and allied professionals, including medical students, can also join the SSA as Associate Members. The objectives of SSA are:
To promote the art and science of anaesthesia
To uphold the dignity of the practice of anaesthesia
To represent anaesthetists and protect and advance their interests
To encourage and promote cooperation and friendship amongst anaesthetists
To promote social, culture and professional activities amongst members of the Society

WCA History
With over 67 years in the making, The World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA) has been established as the premier international congress in anaesthesiology and critical care.
The WCA is organised on behalf of the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists (WFSA). Held bi-annually since 1955, WCA has been recognised for its contribution and impact to the global anaesthesiology community.
With representation from more than 130 countries, the WCA is the only international congress that offers a comprehensive programme that addresses anaesthesiology globally. Additionally, WCA provides training and education opportunities that drive conversations, deepen collaboration and accelerate the promotion of science, networking, and knowledge share across the spectrum of anaesthesiology.
The WCA 2024 is the 18th World Congress of Anaesthesiologists, taking place in Singapore from 3 – 7 March 2024. The WCA2024 Congress will be the first WCA Congress to be held in person since 2016, and we look forward to the warmth of personal exchange with new and familiar members.
